F.A.Q. – Packing
The packing of boxes is not only a cost issue but also an insurance issue. If the boxes are being packed by their owner their content shall not be insured against breakage. If we, as your forwarder, pack the boxes, the content will be insured against breakage.
Every box must be labelled with your name and the box number. Please remember to simultaneously add each box to your cargo-list.
The best way to protect your dishes or valuable china from damage is by completely wrapping them in tissue/packing paper and placing them upright in the moving box. Lay a sheet in between each dish or glass, in order to prevent direct contact between the pieces.
Please make sure that the boxes do not exceed 20 kg and that high quality, double walled boxes are used. Ideally, the boxes are marked with “Caution Glass“ or “fragile”.
The boxes must not be too heavy (approx. 20 kg), as they are being manhandled several times and up to 6 to 8 boxes may be stacked on top of each other in the container so that the weight might be too heavy for the boxes at the bottom. In addition, it is essential that high quality, double walled boxes are used.
